6 Sprints for Successful Boomi Implementation Projects

Looking to start a Boomi cloud integration service project? Kitepipe just updated their Successful Boomi Projects ebook that shares tips for conducting a successful Boomi implementation project.

Downloaded more than 1,000 times, the latest version of Kitepipe’s ebook, gives you the tools to be a Boomi expert.

Within the ebook, Kitepipe shares their service model for Boomi projects with six sprints. These six sprints provide the framework to better understand the scope of a cloud integration project.

The sprints are:

  1. Basic Connectivity
  2. Moving Data End-to-End
  3. Business Process Support
  4. Quality Checks
  5. User Testing and Go Live
  6. Clean-up and Tech Transfer

Sprint 1: Basic Connectivity

In the first sprint, you develop basic Boomi processes that demonstrate connectivity to the integration endpoints. This can take a few hours for simple endpoints with existing connectors, or a month where custom development is needed to drive a complex API. The key factor here is the availability of connectors for the endpoints.

Sprint 2: Moving Data End-to-End

This sprint is the bulk of the Boomi development effort, and is the place where you design and develop the basic structure of the Boomi processes. Download our ebook for more information.

Sprint 3: Business Process Support

In the third sprint, you work on fitting the integration process into the overall business process. When approaching this sprint, the upfront goals are to understand the business context of the integration, and to build in features that minimize transaction friction and maximize velocity, transparency, and business value.

Sprint 4: Quality Checks

In the fourth sprint, the Boomi cloud integration processes  add quality and completeness checks for the data. If this sprint is executed properly it should result in quick resolutions for transaction data quality issues.

Sprint 5: User Testing and Go Live

In this sprint, the integration consultant supports User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and makes fixes and updates, and deploys the processes to the production environment, using a standard quality checklist.

Sprint 6: Hypercare and Tech Transfer

The final sprint addresses hypercare and updates from the initial go live, , so you’re left with a set of “finalized” Boomi processes, improved process documentation, and “run books” that provide extensive knowledge on extensions.
