Highlights:
Highlights of the project were comprehensive scope of integration, mastering of key data vender and items, multi sight templates, and support for multiple locations for go-live.

Context/Problem/Pain Points:
The problems were the challenges of managing the procure to pay process. To save money in procurement they implemented Coupa, a comprehensive procurement process. But for Coupa to run it needs a lot of information from SAP. The role of Boomi integration was to manage the data between SAP and Coupa so that business processes moved to Coupa, and would save money on procurement.

Solution Approach

Process and Project Approach:
We typically do an integration workshop with the customer to understand the scope and details of the project. In this case we inherited a failing project from an existing vendor and had to quickly stabilize it while implementing improvements. We approached the project with a common set of integration patterns covering requisition through payment, and then customized these templates for each individual SAP location.

Technical Solution:
We used both the integration and master data components of Boomi to implement multiple data flows between Coupa and each SAP instance. An average of twenty two integration processes were required for each SAP instance and location to capture the comprehensive data flow between SAP and Coupa.

Outcome and Results:
The initial result was a stabilized integration outcome to Coupa. Previously, the master data needed to be reloaded every two or three weeks. Once stabilized, item data inventory and vendor data flowed smoothly and kept the Coup procurement platform up to date. Once the initial foresights were stabilized and functional, we implemented in three more sights globally with five more sights in the planning process.
